It depends on which funding method is used.
You may, in certain instances, be asked to pay any disbursements which arise throughout the case. Disbursements include copy medical records and experts' reports. If your legal advisor has taken insurance out then if you lose your case you will receive anything that you have paid back. However, many insurance policies (including the one that our Lawyers use) will fund any disbursements.
If you win your case, regardless of any insurance policy, you will recover your disbursements from the Defendant together with your legal advisor's costs.
If you claim is publicly funded then it is important to remember that it is not always cost free. There may be instances where you may have to pay a contribution or an amount back at the end of the case.
Most claims on behalf of children will be funded by Legal Aid.
